In the 1970s, the Bloody Mary wasn’t just a brunch drink it was a bar culture staple. From neighborhood lounges to basement rec rooms with mirrored walls and wood paneling, this savory cocktail felt perfectly at home in the decade’s bold, flavor forward scene.

🍅 Classic Bloody Mary Mix

Makes: About 3 cups of mix (enough for 6–8 servings)

📝 Ingredients:

  • 3 cups tomato juice

  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon horseradish

  • 1/3 cup pickle juice

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon celery salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco (or to taste)

🥄 Directions:

In a blender or large pitcher, combine all ingredients. Blend or stir until well mixed. Chill until ready to serve.

Pour 1 oz of vodka into each glass, add ice, and top with the Bloody Mary mix. Garnish with celery, pickles, olives, or lemon wedges go as classic or as kitschy as you like!
